We always play the license plate game on our yearly summer road trip/vacation. This year we had to take two cars so each car had it's own board and the two cars competed with each other. The youngest player was 23 - so this is truly a game for the entire family.
This board is so well made, we never had any doubt which states had been spied. Great game!

When I first received the package I was surprised that the board was larger then I expected it to be. I would have liked to have been able to put it in a backpack but it is too large. I purchased this for my son who is almost five to use on a road trip we took from Southern, CA to the Northern coast of Oregon. We all loved playing along looking for cars or trucks with new plates. It has also helped him to understand and sparked an interest in US geography. I would defiantly recommend this to others.

This little game is perfect for car trips. We are always checking out license tags and seeing where people are from. Learning part is that to play the game you have to find the state on the map and flip the litttle license tag. Has all the state capitals on there too. In usual Melissa and Doug fashion, this game is sturdy, made of wood. we highly recommend this.

Very rarely do you buy a toy that you know you can keep for years and years and pass down to the next generation but this is one. As long as you have a generation of kids in your family, this toy will never end up thrown away or in a yard sale. Why? Because it is INCREDIBLY well made and durable. It is on a wooden board much like the think wooden puzzles for beginners. The plate pieces are in place with a very thick band which you have the feeling is not going anywhere or going to pull out anytime soon. No loose pieces, no paper and pencil to try to remember all the states you've named. EASY. Somebody thought this thing through. And the nice surprise was it came with instructions on various ways to play the game so that you can compete if you like. We recently took a trip only 2 states away yet spotted 35 plates. We let my daughter hold the board and flip the pieces and it helped her learn where the states are on the map. When she flipped it she would then read us the capital. We bought the bingo also by this same company but never got around to playing it b/c my daugher was so satisfied with this game. Maybe next time.
